2nd Gear
What will my child learn?
- How to brake in a controlled way.
- Weight transfer – how to move their bodies to maintain their balance and control of the bike when they’re riding uphill, downhill or around corners.
- How to look back over their shoulder – a super useful skill for road safety.
- The Track Stand – how to stop the bike without putting your feet down, and balance.
- How to ride one handed
- How to corner properly, with their pedals in the right position
How will this help in real life?
These skills build a great foundation for riding on the road in low traffic conditions including:
- Being able to ride one handed while hand signally to turn left or right.
- Maintaining a straight line and looking back to check for traffic.
